world.Job Summary: The Processing, Guidance and Controls (PG&C)
Center within the Systems Engineering Directorate consists of
Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), Signal Processing (SP) and
Modeling and Simulation disciplines for Effectors. In the GNC
department, we design, integrate, and optimize guidance,
navigation, state estimation, and control algorithms to meet
mission objectives. We support new business initiatives and help
develop & execute technology roadmaps.The GNC department is seeking
a Senior Engineer to perform in the role of Deputy GNC Lead.Serving
in the Deputy GNC Lead role, you will be recognized as a liaison
for other IPTs, a mentor to early-career engineers, and a stand-in
lead when the GNC Lead is absent. You will participate in and
occasionally lead internal stakeholder meetings, interact with
government / customer representatives, and produce analysis reports
for external briefs in support of your Lead and your Cross-Product
Team (CPT) Lead. Being a senior member of the team, you will be
looked to by other team members for guidance in addressing external
requests and in the prioritization of tasking.This position is
located in Tucson, AZ. This is an onsite role.Responsibilities to
Anticipate:
- You will directly report to the GNC Lead and indirectly to the
CPT Lead
- You will create / utilize high fidelity simulations and models
for missile design, performance assessment, and flight test
support
- You will be responsible for the development and implementation
of algorithm solutions, and subsequently conduct trade studies and
evaluation of system and subsystem performance
- You will work in a team environment, receiving inputs from the
team supervisors and providing guidance and/or direction to other
team members
- You will collaborate with Simulation Development, Signal
Processing, and other performance personnel to perform simulation
activities according to the program schedule
- You will work on diverse projects, determine, and develop
approaches and solutions, and provide development guidance
throughout the product lifecycle from initial concept to fielded
product
- You will provide technical expertise for the simulation
products of a specific program, and assist Senior GNC Engineers in
the preparation of detailed plans for weekly Working Group /
monthly Management Reviews, and may interact with government
counterparts as an authority on simulation products
- You may present to the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE),
Program Leadership Team (LT), and government / customer on behalf
of the IPT / CPT
- The selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain
a Top Secret clearance. Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology,
Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of
prior Guidance, Navigation and/or Controls engineering
experience
- Experience including at least two of the following: digital
and/or modern control systems, dynamics, Kalman filter design,
Monte Carlo, or signal processing.
- Experience programming in C++, C, or other high order
language
- Experience developing or simulating hypersonic systems
- Active and transferable security clearance is required prior to
start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are
eligible for a security. Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or
Mathematics
- Previous leadership experience managing others using applied
system engineering principals and interfacing with multiple
engineering disciplines
- Experience developing signal processing / GNC algorithms or
models for missile applications
- Experience with Control Hardware Design and Test
- Experience modeling physics and physical systems as related to
flight dynamics
- Experience using Software Configuration Management
- Knowledge of common Configuration Management tools, such as Git
and ADS
- Experience with radar and/or EO/IR environment models
- Experience using UNIX/Linux based workstations
- Experience with hardware/software integration
- Experience developing and presenting technical briefings What

AZ: ,-az-location The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD -
163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate
representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several
