Job Description:
Waste Connections, an industry leader in waste management
services, is seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join
our technical and maintenance team. As a pivotal part of our
operations, this role involves maintaining and repairing a diverse
fleet of heavy equipment, crucial to the efficient execution of our
waste collection and processing. The ideal candidate will possess a
strong mechanical acumen coupled with a commitment to environmental
stewardship and safety. Perform routine and preventative
maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles used in waste
management operations, including but not limited to front-end
loaders, bulldozers, compactors, and heavy trucks. Diagnose and
repair any mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical issues ensuing
minimal downtime and disruption to operations. Read and interpret
equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance
and service. Comply with EPA, OSHA, and local environmental
regulations by understanding and implementing all aspects of waste
equipment maintenance and repair. Document and maintain detailed
logs of equipment maintenance history and repairs. Conduct safety
checks on equipment and prepare vehicles for operational service.
Participate in training and safety meetings to ensure up-to-date
practices on health and safety standards. Profound knowledge of
diesel engines and hydraulic systems. Skilled in troubleshooting
and repairing mechanical problems. Ability to work with electronic
diagnostic equipment and computer-based technical reference
materials. Strong communication and organizational skills.
Capability to lift heavy items and perform physically demanding
tasks. Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment safely
and efficiently. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision
Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid Commercial Driver’s License
(CDL) or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire. ASE
Certification in Heavy Truck or Diesel Mechanics. Completion of a
certified training program in heavy equipment repair and
maintenance.
