Job Title: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Float Pool Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience License: Required to submit Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must be able to titrate cardiac drips. Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to signing the contract. There will be a pass/fail simulation lab on the first day of orientation. Floating is required between Tele and MedSurg units. Notification of campus and unit is given 1.5 hours prior to shift start. Nurses must clock out when leaving one campus and clock in when arriving at another campus. Description: Provide nursing care to patients in telemetry units. Must be able to interpret EKGs. Common diagnoses include post-catheterization, post-vascular procedures, and general telemetry patients. Administration of medications such as Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, and Dobutamine is required. Floats may occur to similar or lower acuity areas. Weekend shifts will be required every other weekend. May be required to float between different campuses. All shifts are 12 hours, from 7 PM to 7 AM. Charge nurses do not take patient assignments. Patient ratios vary by unit; be prepared for 1:3-4 ratios. Care teams include PCTs assigned per patient ratio. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. The role may require working with various types of patients requiring telemetry monitoring. Communication devices will be provided for ease of contact in patient care settings. Additional notes may be provided regarding specific unit requirements and patient types. Ensure compliance with all hospital protocols and procedures.
