Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) Junior Level Location: Sierra Vista, Arizona Department: Operating Room / Surgery Job Type: Full-time Level: Junior (1 2 years experience) Position overview The Operating Room Registered Nurse Junior Level provides perioperative nursing care as part of the surgical team, supporting safe, efficient procedures and high-quality patient outcomes before, during, and after surgery. This role is ideal for early-career OR nurses with 1 2 years of experience who want to further develop circulating and scrub skills in a collaborative environment. Key responsibilities Assist with preoperative preparation by reviewing charts, verifying consents, and ensuring required equipment and supplies are available. Function primarily as a circulating nurse, maintaining a safe environment, managing documentation, and coordinating the needs of the surgical team. Support scrub role as trained and assigned, including maintaining sterile technique and assisting with instrument and supply management. Monitor and document patient status intraoperatively, including vital signs, positioning, skin integrity, and response to anesthesia and interventions. Participate in surgical counts with the surgical technologist to ensure accurate sponge, needle, and instrument reconciliation. Adhere to infection control, safety, and OR protocols, ensuring the operating room remains clean and properly prepared. Provide postoperative handoff reports to PACU staff and support continuity of care with clear, concise communication. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and perioperative staff to promote patient-centered, efficient care. Required qualifications Associate s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. Current Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license, or compact license with Arizona eligibility. 1 2 years of RN experience; prior operating room or perioperative experience strongly preferred (new-ish OR RNs encouraged to apply). Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred per facility policy. Foundational knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, and OR safety practices. Effective communication, teamwork, and organizational skills with a willingness to learn and grow in the OR environment. Core competencies Perioperative patient assessment and advocacy from pre-op through post-op handoff. Understanding of circulating and basic scrub responsibilities, including sterile and aseptic technique. Strong attention to detail, safety, and infection prevention in the OR. Teamwork, collaboration, and communication within a multidisciplinary surgical team.
